Be Prepared!

Okay, time to go back to your childhood for a second and possibly ruin a little of it... check out the sequence from ~1:30-2:10ish. What do you guys think? Do you think they borrowed a little from the types of grand exhibitions portrayed in Triumph des Willens?

  1. Oh my god...at first I was in denial because The Lion King is my favorite movie...but the similarities are uncanny!
Scar standing on a pedestal above his followers, who all blend in together with similar movements and chants, the stiff legged marching while looking to the side, the close ups of the "childish" characters (the 3 hyenas here, young boys from Hitler Youth camps in Triumph Des Willens)...
    This makes me so sad.

  2. Its definitely similar and actually makes a lot of sense. At one point Disney produced a variety of cartoons that characterized and poked fun at Hitler and the Nazi party. It makes sense that these characterizations would be recycled to make Disney villains.

  3. I hate this movie/most Disney films and have always wanted to go back to watch it for all these little things that get pointed out to us later in life. but, I just avoid it until it pops up in classes like this.
